3 For 6 First Time

So today is Tuesday – my first Tuesday to swim in the morning. It is also the day I will work on my 100 meter repeats in the pool. The goal for now is to complete 6×100 on a 2:10 send off. As I explained to my runner friend who is not a triathlete, a 2:10 send off is swimming and recovering in 2:10 before heading back out for the next 100. Ideally the entire set should be completed in a total of 13 minutes. After a good warm up and confidence that my slightly sprained left wrist didn’t hurt to swim, I tackled the set. The first three I was able to complete in 2:10, the last three I did in 2:15, so my total time for the set was 13:15. If I can add one more within 2:10 each week, I will be happy with my progress. Then once I get the 2:10 down well I will be working up to 2:00… What was the phrase? “You have to start believing you can do it.” Just wish I had ruby slippers to help me.

I want to encourage everyone to follow your passions, not just what is easy. It is in overcoming hurdles and barriers that we truly test our limits and abilities. There is much more we are capable of if we only believe in ourselves.
