Sing it in your head, hear Michael Buble (click link to listen along) singing “Birds flying high, you know how I feel…” That is how I felt after my run this afternoon. It rained most of the day but stopped as I headed out to run four miles after work. It is cloudy but the sun is up there somewhere “Sun in the sky, you know how I feel…” My run was just one of those runs where it all comes together – I had a faster pace than I had expected without pushing my heart rate and I was motivated by the sounds of the birds and the smell of the fresh air after a rain. “Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel…” The endorphins are flying like “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day….”
My swim this morning also was good. I am getting the flip turns down very well in my warm up and incorporating them into my main set. The flips are not slowing down my pace in an endurance set. “Fish in the sea, you know how I feel…” I swam a total of 2,600 meters and was able to keep a consistent pace in each of the 100, 200, and 300 meter sets as I swam along. “River running free, you know how I feel…” Again, it was a workout that challenged me, but left me feeling energized like “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day…”
Not every day or every workout will go this well, but when it does I relish every moment. I know I will sleep well tonight. “Sleep in peace when the day is done, that’s what I mean…” Because I only have today and never know what tomorrow will bring. Each day is a gift …”it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me. And I’m feeling good.”
Congrats on a great workout. I’m feeling rather sluggish myself, but was proud to have completed a 6-mile jog/walk on the treadmill yesterday. Anytime I get in ANY miles on the treadmill, no matter how slow, is a good day because I detest that machine. Would always rather be outside.
Thank you. To get six miles in on a treadmill is an exercise of both mind and body! Good work.
I’m trying to suck up some of these good vibes 🙂
Sending many your way!!
