Rain Drops and Sunshine

I find it extra special when I go on vacation and not only is the weather wonderful but it is raining at home. Unfortunately today the reverse was true. When I woke the rain was just finishing and the sky was brightening so I changed to get a run in. I figured out a mileContinue reading “Rain Drops and Sunshine”

A Run, A Swim, and Another Dolphin Swim

This morning I mapped out a rout to run in a nearby neighborhood and was out the door before 7:30. Getting to the neighborhood, which is less than a tenth of a mile away was an adventure. Our house is on a very busy, narrow, winding, hilly road. Once I made it across the streetContinue reading “A Run, A Swim, and Another Dolphin Swim”

When To Go With the Flow

This morning I slept in – until 6:30. For me that is sleeping in on a week day. I wasn’t the first one up either. My brother-in-law’s brother was up and making coffee. Fortunately three of us here are early risers and fitness minded. Out of nine people and the things I like to do,Continue reading “When To Go With the Flow”

Liebster Time

This post is long over due. Since it is my rest day and I race tomorrow, I must acknowledge the Liebster Award. Liebster is a German word meaning dearest, beloved or favorite. This award is given to bloggers who have been inspiring other bloggers.  I have been given the Liebster Award by three different bloggers. IContinue reading “Liebster Time”

Outdoor Swimming and Believing

This morning was perfect for a swim – in the outdoor pool. The temperature was in the low 60’s, cool to be standing outside in wet hair, but perfect for swimming in a heated pool. We swam 2,500 meters in an endurance set. The main set was made up of 6×150, 6×100, and 6×50. IContinue reading “Outdoor Swimming and Believing”

Running, Lifting, and Doping

This morning I ran 5 miles outside. It was great – again a perfect morning for a run. A cool 52 degrees, no wind, and a clear sky to see the sun rise. I ran my regular rout with the hills – and the cracked pavement. I am now wearing the level two brace forContinue reading “Running, Lifting, and Doping”

Pyramids, Hills and Friends

Today I would have to say I spent both of my workouts going up and down. This morning I met my training partner to swim. Neither of us has completed a 3,000 meter swim since mid May. So this morning was the day to get a good, long endurance swim in. We started with aContinue reading “Pyramids, Hills and Friends”

Time to Reassess

Every three to four months I have what is called a Cardio Point test done at my gym. It is an assessment of my aerobic and anaerobic zones. It measures my oxygen rate of utilization, how much I burn in fat and how much I burn in carbohydrates, my heart rate ranges for the fiveContinue reading “Time to Reassess”
